The following are some common questions that clients may have in regard to my services. If there is something not covered here, or you need any clarification, please reach out to me HERE. I would love to hear from you and I will respond as soon as possible.
~ Are your services eligible to be covered by insurance? ~
No, my services are not eligible for reimbursement under private insurance plans, extended health care benefit programs, income tax programs, or the Autism Spectrum Disorder Individualized Funding provided by the Government of Saskatchewan. I look forward to my services being covered at some point in the future! In the meantime, I try to keep my rates as reasonable as possible so that most can access my services. If affordability is an issue, I encourage you to please reach out to me here and we can come together to find a solution.
~ Do I need to be present for the visit and/or participate? ~
Yes, I require that you (or another close caregiver your child spends a great deal of time with) are present for the duration of the visit, and that you actively participate in the visit. You are your child's first and best teacher, and you are the most important key in influencing their development. I act as a temporary facilitator. I do not only work directly with your child one on one. This is mainly because your child learns throughout the day, every day, and not just during the time of our visit. I use our visit time working together with you, the parent/caregiver, to create strategies that will enhance your child's functioning, engagement, and development during routine activities. Such strategies can then be used at every chance during regular daily routines so your child gets as much practice as possible. Together, we will work with your child to build their strengths and capacities.
~ Can my other children be present during the visit? ~
Yes! Siblings are a part of your child's natural environment - settings, materials, people, and activities that your child knows well.
~ Why choose private, fee for service? ~
This is a personal decision and not one that can easily be answered. Some of the pros of private intervention are that services can be scheduled quickly, without having to join a lengthy waitlist (my services can be used in conjunction with other private services, while families await public "free" services). Also, my services are tailored to your needs specifically, and can be more flexible than most public services (families have the option to book outside of typical business hours, such as early morning and during evenings and on weekends). Finally, there is great value in hiring a patient, empathetic, and competent Consultant with a wealth of knowledge and experience in parenting, and in typical and atypical child development.
